COAS stresses implementation of NAP for combating extremism

RAWALPINDI (92 News) – The Corps Commanders Conference on Friday discussed situation in Yemen and Middle East, stressing that the continuation of the conflict will have serious implications for regional security. According to Director General (DG) Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asim Bajwa, Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif emphasised the need to concentrate on combating extremism from the society by re-energising National Action Plan (NAP) in letter and spirit. “ Intelligence Based Operations (IBOs) must be further intensified to unearth terrorist sleeper cells, apprehend terrorists, their abettors from urban centres,” the COAS said. The Army Chief directed commanders to focus on achieving the objective of total elimination of terrorism from the country. General Raheel Sharif expressed complete satisfaction over progress, especially major gains recently made in ongoing Zarb-e-Azb operation in Khyber Agency.
