Committee formed to probe recovery of liquor from Sharjeel’s room

KARACHI (92 News) – Karachi Additional IGP Dr Ameer Sheikh has formed a three-member committee to probe the recovery of liquor from the room of PPP leader Sharjeel Memon. The committee will present the report within a week. DIG South Javed Alam Odho will lead the committee comprising SSP Investigations South Abdullah Jan and SSP Investigations East Shabbir Memon. After the recovery of liquor, Sharjeel Memon was sent to Karachi's Central Jail. Memon had been under treatment and in judicial custody at the Ziauddin Hospital's Shirin Jinnah branch, where his room had been declared a sub-jail. The Boat Basin police registered a case against Memon and his three servants over possessing intoxicants. “The police have registered FIR on the complaint of jail official against incarcerated Sharjeel Memon and his three servants,” said South SSP Omar Shahid. The case has been registered under Section 4 (owning or possessing of intoxicant) of the Prohibition (Enforcement of Hadd) Order (4 of 1979). The police have arrested three people, including one driver and two servants.
