SRINAGAR (92 News) – In Indian-held Jammu Kashmir, complete shutdown is being observed today to mark complete boycott in the areas where India is going to stage the final phase of sham local bodies’ elections. Call for the strike has been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik. In a statement in Srinagar, All Parties Hurriyat Conference strongly condemned the fresh arrest spree and night raids carried out by Indian troops particularly in poll-bound areas of Srinagar, Baramulla, Pulwama, Shopian, Islamabad and Gandarbal districts. The authorities continued to place Hurriyat leaders Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Mohammad Umar Farooq, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai and Muhammad Yasin Malik, besides hundreds of other youth and activists, under house arrest or in jails ahead of the fourth phase of the bogus elections. Meanwhile, strict restrictions have been imposed across the territory by the Indian forces to make the election drama a success.
