Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam terms surgical strikes fake

NEW DELHI (92 News) – Indian Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam has called the Indian Army’s surgical strikes across the Line of Control (LoC) ‘fake’. The Maharashtra Congress leader's remarks came after India claimed to carry out surgical strikes across the LoC. Pointing that government might have used the strike to relieve itself from the intense post-Uri attack pressure, Nirupam asked the Centre to explain why the DGMO convened a press conference to declare the strike. "The government has to provide some sort of evidence without compromising national security," Nirupam added. On Monday, the Congress had asked the government to put forth credible evidence of last week's surgical strikes to expose Pakistan's false propaganda. Along with Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam, former finance minister P Chidambaram is also facing flak over questioning the surgical strikes and the valor of Indian Army. Chidambaram said it is up to the government to furnish evidence. On Monday, Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal urged the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to unmask the false propaganda against Pakistan. Kejriwal stopped short of asking for the video of the strikes to be shared. Pakistan has asserted that India has flagrantly misrepresented cross-border firing as raids across the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir. The ruling BJP says that politicians like Nirupam are bolstering that claim by seeking evidence.
