ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday dismissed the petition against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Captain (r) Muhammad Safdar. Mahmood Akhtar Naqvi told the court that the former prime minister was committing contempt of court after the Supreme Court’s verdict on Panamagate case. The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar said, "The statements against judiciary will be examined at an appropriate time." CJP Nisar also said that the former PM had used inappropriate words against the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) and not the court so it cannot be considered contempt of court. The court further dismissed the contempt of court petition against Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif and Captain (r) Muhammad Safdar. Besides, disposing of this contempt petition,  the contempt cases against late former prime minister Benazir Bhutto and Syed Iqbal Haider were also declared ineffective and disposed of.
