ECP to announce verdict on contempt of court case against Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Babar Awan, counsel of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has on Monday submitted reply in the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in contempt of court case. A four-member bench of the ECP headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) resumed hearing of the contempt of court case. During the proceedings, counsel of Imran Khan, Babar Awan submitted reply in the ECP and said that the tribunal had accepted unconditional apology of the PTI chairman submitted by his lawyer Saqlain Haider on January 16. He said that the matter of contempt of court is a past story, adding that the issue emerged after the party funding details were not submitted. However, now the funding details have been submitted. The tribunal reserved the verdict and will announce the judgment on September 27. Talking to media after the hearing, Babar Awan said that the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is behind the case against the PTI chairman and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif wants clash between the institutions.
