Contempt of court case: IHC gives Rana Shamim last chance to submit affidavit till April 4

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has given the last chance to Gilgit-Baltistan former chief judge Rana Shamim to submit the affidavit till April 4.

During the hearing, IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah told Rana Shamim that he had levelled various allegations against the judiciary. "You (Rana Shamim) cannot defend these allegations. You have not sent the legal notice after the affidavit was leaked," he added.

Rana Shamim told court that he did not know about the source and he would have given the application for action had he known about the sources. "I have given the copy to my counsel who is sick these days. He has been advised two-week bed rest," he added.

On January 20, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) had framed charges against Rana Shamim in the affidavit case. However, the court had deferred the proceedings to indict journalists. It rejected the also pleas of Rana Shamim to conduct the inquiry of the matter and separate the attorney general from the case.
