ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a show-cause notice to GB former chief judge Rana Shamim, Mir Shakeelur Rehman, Ansar Abbasi and Amir Ghauri in the contempt of court case.

The court has ordered all four people to submit their written replies within a week.

IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah remarked that the credibility of court and judges had been questioned through the news. "I would have not started the contempt of court proceedings had I not trusted my judges," he observed. "The proceedings are for our accountability and you have to hold us accountable."

He observed that there will be anarchy in the society of the people's trust in the judiciary was not restored.

The IHC chief justice said that accountability court had sentenced Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz on July 6 and an appeal was filed in the IHC on July 16, while Justice Aamer Farooq was abroad on vacations at that time. "Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kayani and Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb had heard the appeals of Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz. Both judges are among highly respectable judges in the country," he observed.

The court has summoned all parties on July 26.
