Contempt Proceeding: ECP adjourns hearing against Imran Khan until Oct 11

ISLAMABAD (92 News) –The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has on Wednesday adjourned the hearing of contempt of court case against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan until October 11. A four-member bench of the ECP headed by Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sardar Raza Khan resumed hearing the of the contempt of court case against Imran Khan. Babar Awan, counsel of Imran Khan appeared before the tribunal. During the proceedings, the CEC asked about the status of case being heard in Islamabad High Court (IHC) to which Babar Awan said that the court had adjourned the hearing until October 11. The ECP then adjourned the hearing until October 11. The CEC remarked that it will announce a decision on the case if the IHC does not issue an order in the case by October 11. Talking to media outside the ECP, PTI spokesman Naeemul Haq said that party chairman Imran Khan had submitted reply in the ECP. He said that Nawaz Sharif wanted to have verdicts in his favor by pressurizing the judiciary and the ECP.
