ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) framed charges against Gilgit-Baltistan former chief judge Rana Shamim Ahmed in the affidavit case.

The court deferred the proceedings to indict journalists. Meanwhile, the court rejected the pleas of Rana Shamim to conduct the inquiry of the matter and separate the attorney general from the case.

Rana Shamim appealed to the court to get the reply of former chief justice Saqib Nisar.

IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah remarked that serious allegations were levelled against the judges and an attempt was made to affect the case. "The court has been insulted too much. We cannot give the licence to anyone to insult the court," he observed.

Later, the court adjourned the case till February 15.

Talking to the media after the hearing, Rana Shamim said that the affidavit had been sealed and he did not know how it was made public. "I have been indicted for being alone. The person who published the news has been pardoned," he added.
