LAHORE (92 News) – After Karachi, several Corona affected areas of Lahore have been sealed after the pandemic cases are soaring in the provincial capital city of Punjab. According to the details garnered, after the increasing number of coronavirus cases in Lahore, Raiwind, Sikandria Colony, Nawan Kot, Makhanpura, Beghum Kot Shahdara, Rustam Park Gulshan e Ravi, Small industries housing society Defence and Mughalpura Railway colony have been completely sealed. The streets adjoining to Chah Miran Bazaar has also been blocked with barriers. Homes and markets have been completely locked down and test samples of more than 50 suspects have been sent to laboratories for testing. It is pertinent to mention here that at present, 37 patients have been reported in Raiwind, nine in Sikandria Colony and 10 in Makhanpura. In total 66 cases ahve been reported in these areas. On the other hand, police personnel are deployed in the affected areas without protective equipment while screening process is also in progress. As many as 11 union councils were sealed in East Karachi to control the spread of coronavirus. The union councils have been sealed on the orders of East Karachi deputy commissioner. A heavy contingent of the Rangers and police sealed different areas. The sealed UCs include UC 6 Gillani Railway, UC 7 Dalmiya, UC 8 Jamal Colony, UC 9 Gulshan II, UC 10 Pehalwan Goth, UC 12 Gulzar, UC 13 Safoora, UC 2 Manzoor Colony, UC 9 Jacob Line and UC 10 Jamshed Quarters. No one will be allowed to enter or leave the sealed union councils. Earlier on Saturday, the Sindh government extended the lockdown for a week to contain the spread of coronavirus. In a video message, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah expressed concern over the COVID-19 situation in the province. He said that 104 new cases and six deaths have been reported in the province during the last 24 hours, which is a matter of concern. “The emergence of new coronavirus cases is 20 percent of the total tests conducted during the last 24 hours, which is the highest average across the world,” he said. The Sindh chief minister said that 531 tests were conducted and of them 104 people tested positive. “The reason of the worsening situation is that the lockdown is not being implemented. The lockdown in Malir was weak. The number of coronavirus patients is increasing in Hyderabad,” he added.
