Corona variant Omicron is very dangerous and spreads fast, says Asad Umar

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Federal Minister for Planning Asad Umar has said that the Corona variant Omicron is very dangerous and spreads fast, while vaccination is the only defence.

Addressing a press conference on Monday, he said that the government is taking steps to control the new variant. "The next 2-3 weeks are very important. We have to expedite the vaccination process. We are also going to start the Booster Shot Programme," he added.

The NCOC chief said that the Corona new variant Omicron could emerge in Pakistan. "About 50 million people have been vaccinated. We are expediting testing in high-risk areas," he added.

He said that travel restrictions can be imposed on some countries.

Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Heath Faisal Sultan said that the government is monitoring the new variant scientifically scientific grounds. "The people not getting vaccination are more prone to the virus," he maintained.

He said that the new variant is spreading in several European countries.
