Coronavirus cases likely to touch 50,000 by April 25: report

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The number of coronavirus patients is likely to touch 50,000 by April 25. According to a report submitted to the Supreme Court of Pakistan by the National Action Plan on Saturday, 7,000 reported cases can be serious while 2,500 patient can be in a critical condition. The report says that testing facility will be increased by April 25. “The government has implemented the emergency plan amounting to US$366 million,” it reads. It says a coronavirus awareness campaign is going on. “Arrangements have been made to place suspected patients from 154 districts in quarantine,” it added. The report said that the federal government has prepared guidelines in consultation with the provinces and epidemic experts. “SOPs have been designed for the people coming from abroad. As many as 222 suspected patients have been identified at airports and exit points,” it stated. It said that special counters have been established at all airports, while emergency has been declared at the border adjacent to Balochistan. “A 300-bed quarantine centre has been established in Islamabad. Isolation wards comprising of 154 beds have been established in four hospitals of Islamabad,” he said. It told court that arrangements had been made to put suspected patients in quarantine in 154 districts.
