Coronavirus claims more 11 lives across Pakistan in 24 hours

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The pandemic coronavirus has claimed more 11 lives across Pakistan in the last 24 hours as the nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 22,939 on Friday.

According to the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 1,425 persons tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours as the the number of positive cases has surged to 1,000,034.

The positivity rate of infections was recorded at 6.3 per cent, it said. The country’s caseload climbed to 998,609 after 2,158 new cases were detected.

A total of 2,525 patients are in critical care at hospitals across the country, the NCOC said, adding 895 people recuperated from the disease in the past 24 hours, taking the number of people who have recovered since the pandemic began to 922,929.

Punjab remains the worst-hit province in terms of deaths followed by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Till now 10,909 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab, 5,785 in Sindh, 4,405 in KP, 789 in Islamabad, 608 in Azad Kashmir, 321 in Balochistan, and 122 in GB.

Furthermore, 362,182 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 351,707 in Punjab, 141,359 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 85,230 in Islamabad, 29,357 in Balochistan, 22,592 in Azad Kashmir and 7,607 in Gilgit-Baltistan.
