KARACHI (92 News) – Federal Minister for Water Faisal Vawda has said that the coronavirus is spreading across the province due to the incompetence of the Sindh government. Lashing out at the Sindh government’s decision to seal 11 UCs of Karachi during a press conference, he said that instead of making efforts to deal with the pandemic, the chief minister and his cabinet is sitting in air-conditioned rooms and taking in appropriate decisions. Faisal Vawda also maintained that the Sindh government has failed to counter the coronavirus situation effectively and is only carrying out lip service. “How can they keep 0.7 million people in District East off the roads while they cannot handle 70 people,” Vawda asked. He maintained that the Sindh government should explain where did it used the funds that was collected by private donors and provided by the federal government. “Lockdown of the province is not a solution to curb coronavirus. People will die of hunger,” Faisal remarked. He pointed out that corruption in funds is rampant in Sindh and money allocated for poor people is being provided after deduction. “Deduction of Rs1,000 from Rs12,000 is injustice." Earlier, Minister for Maritime Affairs Ali Zaidi had slammed the PPP over its lax attitude towards the province's health sector. Talking to the media alongside Leader of Opposition in Sindh Assembly Firdous Shamim Naqvi, the minister said that after the 18th Amendment health is the responsibility of provincial governments. “No ventilator is available in hospitals in upper Sindh and only two isolation centres are established.” Zaidi said Sindh lags far behind in health facilities if compared to other provinces. “PPP could have established a state-of-the-art hospital for the people of the upper region," he said.
