PM Imran Khan says will have to introduce US-like voting system

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that all have witnessed the drama staged in the Senate election and they do not want such election again.

Addressing the federal cabinet on Tuesday, he said that they will have to introduce a US-like voting system.

Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed the commitment to bring in the latest technology to ensure transparency in the elections.

He stressed the need for using electronic voting machines in the elections to make the whole process transparent. "We will regularly take updates on the matter as well as giving the right of franchise to overseas Pakistanis."

The prime minister said that Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari like ruling elite first weakened the relevant institutions to transfer abroad the money accumulated through illegal means. "Mega projects are also executed by such corrupt elements to get big kickbacks in return. The people have to pay the price of this corruption in the form of inflation," he added.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan held a meeting with newly-elected independent Senator Abdul Qadir from Blochistan who announced joining the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

Prime Minister Imran Khan also held a meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar. They discussed the situation in Punjab and uplift matters.
