ISLAMABAD (92 News) - While giving a unique logic, Federal Minister for Defence Pervez Khattak said that if there is inflation, the country, factories and agriculture will run.

In his address to the National Assembly, Pervez Khattak also challenged Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif to find poverty in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). "I challenge you to find the poor in my province," he added, opposition members kept smiling at him. Pointing to the opposition, the defence minister said that they need curses, not prayers.

"I was also criticized for five years and I would have to face criticism for two more years. They are criticizing us as in their rule, the canals of milk and honey were flowed," he said, adding that if the country was not in debt, they would not have gone to the IMF. He also predicted that the country will not go to IMF after two years.

Pervez Khattak mentioned that in his time the factories were closed and today they are running. "Our government supported them with incentives and the wheel of the economy started moving. They do not come to serve the people, they come to become rulers."

"The previous government left the treasury empty. When we came, it was five billion. The country can't run for a month," he said, adding that the national treasury currently has 25 billion as reserves.

"We have shown progress in IT, if the construction sector was given incentives, there would be development in Pakistan today, only government jobs do not run business, today the people of Pakistan are living a good life, people are not sleeping hungry. People in the country have cars, have a good standard of living, tell me where is the poverty?"

The minister further said that inflation is rising all over the world, there is also inflation in Europe and America, it works with inflation. He termed inflation as an opposition drama.
