Country’s economy cannot afford lockdown for long period: FM Qureshi

LAHORE (92 News) – Foreign Minister (FM) Shah Mehmood Qureshi has said the country’s economy cannot afford lockdown for a long period. Talking to the media persons in Lahore on Sunday, the minister said that the government has to tailor the situation keeping in view the current situation during the lockdown. “We have to face hunger during the fight with coronavirus,” he added. The minister also said the federal government is moving forward keeping in view the holistic picture. He further said that the government is very much concerned about the loss of traders and businessmen due to the lockdown.
FM commends timely assistance by China
To a question, FM Qureshi commended the assistance extended by China to Pakistan to cope with coronavirus challenge. He expressed gratitude to Chinese President and the people for the assistance.
FM urges UN to take notice of India’s persecution campaign in IoK
Shah Mahmood Qureshi has urged the UN Secretary General to take notice of India’s intensified persecution campaign in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IoK). He regretted that the Indian government has not changed its posture regardless of the breakout of Covid-19 pandemic. He pointed out that the siege of IoK is continuing. “The Indian occupation forces are barging into the houses of Kashmiri people and subjecting them to violence,” he said. He said Pakistan will continue to highlight the plight of Kashmiri people at different forums.
Doctors, paramedics fighting coronavirus fearlessly
FM Qureshi said the whole country is proud of the doctors and paramedical staff who are fearlessly treating the coronavirus patients. He said that everyone is praying hard to get rid of this pandemic that has engulfed the whole world.
