CHITRAL (92 News) – Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that the country would progress only when the democracy continued. Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the Golen Gol Hydropower project in Chitral on Sunday, he said that the project will provide uninterrupted electric supply round the year to the people of Chitral, adding that the incumbent government has fulfilled its promises by practically implementing an unprecedented number of development projects in the country. The premier said that the government is implementing development schemes all over the country to improve socio-economic condition of the people. “The government has succeeded in overcoming the problem of load shedding in the country,” he added. “Pakistan has been put on right track. Now you have again to decide in the next general elections. This (development) process would continue if you make a right decision. You have the powers to make these decisions. This is the democracy. This is the representation. This is the course of country’s development,” he said after unveiling the plaque of the project. Abbasi went on to say that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif took keen interest in the development of Chitral, adding that the government will provide additional funds for development of Chitral. The prime minister assured the people that the project would first meet the needs of the whole of Chitral area and only the surplus electricity would be supplied to other areas. He said no doubt, Chitral would now become load-shedding free area as the project would be capable to meet Chitral’s needs even during the drought season.
