Court expresses anger on Hamza for not standing in witness box

LAHORE (92 News) – Accountability Court Judge Amjad Nazeer expressed anger on Opposition Leader in Punjab Assembly Hamza Shehbaz for not standing in witness box despite of directions. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) presented Hamza Shehbaz before court after completing his remand. During the proceedings, the judge expressed resentment and directed Hamza Shehbaz to stand in the witness box in every hearing. “You have not come in court to hold press conference,” Judge Amjad Nazeer also remarked. The court extended judicial remand of Shahbaz till November 28 in Ramzan Sugar Mills case. On the other hand, the court also accepted exemption plea of Opposition Leader in National Assembly Shehbaz Sharif. In the previous hearing, an accountability court extended the judicial remand of Hamza Shehbaz in assets beyond income case.  Accountability court judge Chaudhry Ameer Khan heard the case. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) presented Hamza Shehbaz before court. The court extended judicial remand of the opposition leader till November 13. The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor was inquired from by the court regarding a formal reference against the politician. The prosecutor replied that the reference was in relay and required signatures and approval from the chairman NAB. The court ordered to file reference against Sharif on next hearing. Previously, NAB investigation officer told the court that his team had obtained additional evidences from the Chief Minister (CM) Office. He maintained that benami companies were made in the name of two employees of the CM Office – Ali Ahmed Khan and Mehr Nisar Ahmed. The investigation officer said the anti-graft body had received the details of Chiniot property and required data from the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and other departments. Speaking to the journalists, Hamza Shehbaz said the incumbent government has destroyed country’s economy and Pakistan is trapped in troubles. Prime Minister Imran Khan has prepared his political coffin by telling lies and taking u-turns. The PML-N leader said that the incumbent government cannot run even all the leaders of opposition leaders may arrest. On June 26, the court had extended Hamza’s physical remand for 14 days upon the NAB’s request. On June 11, the premier anti-corruption watchdog had arrested Hamza in the same cases and shifted him to the bureau’s headquarter at Thokar Niaz Baig in Lahore after the Lahore High Court (LHC) turned down his applications for extension in his interim bail.
