LAHORE (92 News) - A local court in Lahore has granted police a 5-day physical remand of PML-N MNA Javed Latif.

The MNA was produced today in the court of Magistrate Sabir Dar, where the public prosecutor and lawyers of the politician presented their arguments.

A government lawyer requested a 14-day physical remand of the lawmaker saying his custody is needed for a photogrammetric test and further investigation. The PML-N MNA’s lawyer, however, opposed the prosecutor’s plea for the physical remand.

The court reserved its verdict after hearing arguments of the parties involved. After two hours, the court granted the police's request and remanded Latif into their custody for five days.

On Tuesday, the arrest of PML-N leader Mian Javed Latif has been challenged in the LHC. Mian Javed Latif's brother filed a petition in the LHC through Advocate Chaudhry Imran Raza Chadhar.

LHC Justice Anwarul Haq Pannu will hear the petition. The petition states that Javed Latif is an MNA and the permission was not sought from the speaker before his arrest.

The position adopted a stance that the CIA police was illegally detained MNA Mian Javed Latif.

Earlier, Additional sessions Judge Wajid Minhas cancelled the interim bail of PML-N leader Javed Latif in a case pertaining to delivering anti-state speeches on Tuesday.

After the cancellation of the bail, the police arrested him from Saggian Bridge as he had left court.

On April 14, the court had extended interim bail of PML-N leader Mian Javed Latif till April 27.
