COVID-19 claims 105 more lives in past 24 hours

ISLAMABAD (92 News) - The coronavirus (COVID-19) has claimed 105 more lives in Pakistan during the past 24 hours, taking the overall death toll to 15,229 on Friday.

According to the latest statistics of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC)m, Pakistan has reported 5,312 fresh infections were reported during the last 24 hours as the number of positive cases surged to 710,829.

During the period of a day, the total count of active cases was recorded at 69,811 and the positivity rate stood at 9.66 per cent.

The health facilities across the country conducted 54,948 coronavirus detection tests, taking the total number of COVID-19 tests to 10,639,825 since the first case was reported.

According to the statistics, 174 patients were declared critical, adding to the total number of patients suffering from sensitive health condition up to 4,116.

Overall 625,789 people have recovered from the virus including 2,390 who have regained their health from COVID-19 during the past 24 hours.

Punjab remains the worst-hit province by the pandemic in terms of deaths followed by Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. Most numbers of cases have been reported in Sindh.

Till now 267,970 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 243,295 in Punjab, 96,128 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 20,097 in Balochistan, 64,173 in Islamabad, 14,069 in Azad Kashmir and 5,097 in Gilgit-Baltistan.

Furthermore, 6,851 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab, 4,521 in Sindh, 2,553 in KP, 213 in Balochistan, 597 in Islamabad, 391 in Azad Kashmir and 103 in GB.
