COVID-19: Majority of public supports complete countrywide lockdown
LAHORE (92 News) – In wake of preventive measures from coronavirus (COVID-19), the majority of public on Sunday supported the complete countrywide lockdown.
The citizens pronounced that the lockdown is a best option for stopping spread of virus to more people. They also said that the preventive cautions are necessary during the difficult time.
“The only way to avoid coronavirus is to stay indoors. Lockdown’s decision should be taken immediately to make the public serious.”
The residents of Punjab also supported lockdown in the province. They stated that Punjab should be locked down like Sindh province to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Lauding the Sindh government’s steps to prevent virus, the people demanded a complete lockdown in Faisalabad and said that apart from this, there is no other way to avoid this deadly novel COVID-19.
On the other hand, Pakistan is not facing the same situation like Italy and France and complete lockdown is not feasible in the country, said PM Imran Khan.
In his address to the nation today, the prime minister said that 25 per cent of Pakistani population lives below the poverty line so the complete lockdown is not feasible. “The chaos and panic is more dangerous than coronavirus (COVID-19),” he added.
The prime minister maintained that going for complete lockdown will make lives of poor people miserable. “I would have gone for complete lockdown of the country had there was a similar situation in Pakistan like it had emerged in China and Italy.”
PM Khan further stated that the government has no capacity to provide food in the houses of people. He appealed the nation to observe self-discipline and quarantine to fight the deadly novel coronavirus pandemic. “We can come out of this challenging time by observing precautionary measures,” he said.
