COVID-19 outbreak: Partial lockdown imposed in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – In wake of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the Islamabad district administration imposed partial lockdown in the federal capital. In a notification, the district administration banned all kinds of public gathering and ordered to shut markets, shopping malls, restaurants and private officer for unidentified period. The authority suspended public transport in the capital city whereas Metro service will be available from 8:30 am to 10:30 am and 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm daily. Addressing the news conference in Islamabad, the Special Assistant on National Security Division Moeed Yusuf said no intercity public transport will be allowed to operate within the federal capital whereas Metro Bus service will remain open from 8:30am to 10:30am and 3:30pm to 5:30 pm. He informed that public gathering including religious congregation have been banned in the ICT. He said essential services including welfare trusts, hospitals, pharmaceutical companies, medicine stores, groceries are exempted from the ban.
