Crackdown started against Azadi marchers

 ISLAMABAD/KARACHI (92 News) – The crackdown has been started against the Azadi marchers of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F(JUI-F) as two JUI-F leaders were arrested from Islamabad. According to the reports, police arrested JUI-F two leaders arrested from Islamabad and a case was lodged against them by the police. Maulana Shafiqur Rehman and Maulana Muhammad Irshad were arrested from Shams Colony along with banners for the JUI-F sit-in in their possession. It alleged that they were urging people to participate in the Azaadi March being organised by the JUI-F against the government of PTI. Police say the suspects had challenged the administration by putting up banners despite the fact that Section 144 had been imposed in the area.

Case registered against JUI-F leader asking extortion

On the other hand, A case has been filed against JUI-F’s representatives over allegedly asking extortion from the people of Karachi for anti-government rally Azadi March. JUI-F’s local leaders Sabir Ashrafi, Hanif and Saleem have been named in the case lodged by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Kashif Nizami. An FIR revealed that JUI-F has allegedly demanded Rs50,000 for the arrangements of sit-in in the federal capital, Islamabad and also threatened the masses of severe consequences if they fail to pay the extortion money.

LHC fixes petition against JUI-F’s Azadi March

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has fixed petition against JUI-F’s anti-government protest ‘Azadi March’ for hearing. The plaintiff has adopted the stance that constitutional government cannot be dissolved before completing its five year tenure. JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has formed private army for protecting his Azadi March, the plea claimed. The petitioner further demanded the court to take up the case and stop JUI-F activists’ private army from holding illegal sit-in in the federal capital, Islamabad.

Interior ministry plan

The interior ministry has chalked out a strategy to deal with the protestors if the opposition parties refuse to negotiate with the government team or the talks fail. The Lahore and Peshawar motorways and GT Road will be closed from October 31. The Federal government, the local administration and other the law enforcement agencies have prepared lists of the activists of the JUI-F and other political parties. Earlier, the JUI-F plans to march on Islamabad on October 31 with the backing of the Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N), Pakistan Peoples’ Party (PPP) and other opposition parties, demanding the resignation of the prime minister and fresh elections.
