CTD foils major terror bid, arrests high-profile terrorist in Karachi

KARACHI (92 News) – The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Thursday said that they had arrested a high-profile terrorist and foiled a major terror bid in Karachi. According to CTD in-charge Raja Umar Khattab, the suspected terrorist, Mohammad Ishaque aka Gul, was arrested by CTD and two suicide jackets were recovered from his possession. Two hand grenades were also recovered during the operation. Umer Khattab also said that the suspect reached Karachi from Afghanistan via Balochistan and Sindh. “He was in Karachi for terrorist activity, and the arrested terrorist is associated with banned outfit,” Khattab claimed. A first information reports (FIR) was filed against the suspected terrorist on charges of murder, kidnapping for ransom and robbery. “They were also involved in attacks on law enforcement agencies.” Ishaque, after reportedly escaping from a police encounter in 2008, went into hiding in Afghanistan. Several accomplices of the arrested terrorist have been killed while several remain under arrest.
CTD arrests three terrorists in Faisalabad
On secret information, the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) conducted an operation arrested three terrorists at Deputy Wala Interchange in Faisalabad. According to the details garnered, they arrested Noor Muhammad, Noor Raheem and others which belong to a banned organisation. Explosives, IED (Improvised Explosive Device) and other arms were recovered. CTD officials said that the terrorists have been transeferd to an unknown location for investigation. They planned to target the law enforcement agency office in Faisalabad.
CTD arrests 2 hardcore terrorists from Bahawalpur
On April 3, the CTD arrested at least two hardcore terrorists during an operation in Bahwalpur. According to the reports, the apprehended terrorists include Hikmat Shah and Ahmad Raza belonged to a banned outfit.
It was reported that the hardcore terrorists were arrested during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) conducted at Bahwalpur’s Sadar area. Meanwhile, the weapons, explosive material, hand grenades and funds collected for the proscribed organization were recovered from the arrested terrorists. They were shifted to undisclosed location for further interrogation. The CTD officials said that the terrorists were planning to sensitive installations in Bahawalpur.
CTD arrests terrorist, his facilitator in DG Khan
Earlier, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) on Thursday conducted an operation on intelligence report in Dera Ghazi Khan and arrested a terrorist and his facilitator. According to the reports, arrested terrorist was identified as Jamshaid. The CTD personnel also recovered hand grenades, maps and sensitive documents used for terrorism from his possession. It was reported that Jamshid was associated with the banned outfit of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi. It also said that two more persons, Farrukh and his father, were arrested on information gathered from Jamshaid. Reportedly, Farrukh and his father were involved in providing funds to banned outfits. It further said that the arrested terrorist was planning to target law enforcement agencies in Dera Ghazi Khan.
