SRINAGAR (92 News) – Indian authorities have on Monday decided to lift curfew from most parts of Kashmir. Curfew was imposed after the valley witnessed violent protests after the Burhan Wani killing last month. The curfew that reached its 51st day on Monday has been lifted in Kashmir, except in Pulwama and some parts of Srinagar. However, restrictions under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) will still remain enforced in Kashmir. It prohibits unlawful assembly of 10 or more people. Curfew was imposed on 9 July and it is the first time that such restrictions remained in place for 51 consecutive days since militancy erupted in the Valley in 1989.
