Cyber attacks: Data of 19,864 cards stolen from 22 banks

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Data of 19,864 cards was stolen from 22 banks of the country, revealed the State Bank of Pakistan spokesperson. It has been revealed that a card was sold on the black market at Rs 100-160 and the buyers did shopping immediately. The SBP has stopped the banks from making payments to banks abroad. It has also directed the banks to rectify the faults. The SBP has advised the customers to continuously change their secret codes each month or after two months. It has also advised the customers not to use their cards abroad or online so that they could not be used abroad. “This ban can be removed temporarily and the ban could be imposed afterwards,” it stated. It asked the people to inform their banks immediately about any suspicious purchase or misuse of their cards so that the transaction should be blocked. The data of 8,000 customers of Pakistani banks has been stolen so far.
