Daniyal issued show-cause, Talal gets one more week in contempt case

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday issued show-cause notice to Federal Minister for Privatization Daniyal Aziz in the contempt of court case against him. A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh heard the contempt of court case against the federal minister. During the proceedings, Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh remarked contempt of court by Daniyal Aziz can be construed after perusing transcripts of his speeches from three TV channels that has been found guilty of contempt of court. The court issued show-cause notice to the federal minister and directed the attorney general to be present in court so the case may move forward. On the other hand, Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry was directed to submit reply in contempt of court case till Monday. A three-member bench of the top court headed by Justice Ijazul Ahsan heard the case against the state minister. During the proceedings, the court rejected Talal Chaudhry’s 10-day respite appeal to submit reply. Kamran Murtaza, the counsel of Talal Chaudhry told court that since his appointment is new in the case, he wants time to file a reply. The court rejected his appeal and directed him to submit reply on February 26. The court later adjourned the hearing till February 26.
