Deadlock persists between opp alliance for nomination of president

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The deadlock still persisted between the alliance parties of opposition over the nomination of the joint presidential candidate. A per reports, the Pakistan peoples' Party (PPP) has refused to retract the name of its nominee for the presidential election after the PML-N expressed reservation on the name of Aitzaz Ahsan. Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman Sunday contacted PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif and told him Asif Ali Zardari has refused to take back the name of Aitzaz Ahsan. It is pertinent to mention here that the opposition leaders suggested to take the name for the presidential candidate from MMA and ANP. According to the sources, the grand alliance of the opposition may be agreed on the name of JUI-F chief Fazlur Rehman or Asfandyar Wali Khan for the candidate of president. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has already named Arif Alvi as its candidate for the post. As deadline of submitting nomination papers for presidential elections will be ended tomorrow (on Monday). On the other hand, PPP’s senior leader Khursheed Shah claimed that PML-N has not expressed any aversion over the name of Aitzaz. A day earlier, the All-Parties Conference convened by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) decided to bring forward a joint candidate for the post of the president of Pakistan.
