Deadlock persists over appointment of Punjab caretaker CM

LAHORE (92 News) - Deadlock persisted between the government and the opposition alliance over appointment of the caretaker chief minister in Punjab.

The talks between the parliamentary committees meeting held under Punjab Assembly Speaker Sibtain Khan failed as consensus could not be reached on a single name.

After the failure of the talks, the matter has been referred to Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

Raja Basharat of the PTI said that the names given by the government are much better than the names given by the opposition. Mian Aslam Iqbal said it would have been good if any of the given names could have been chosen.

PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal said that unluckily the matters could not be resolved at the political level. PPP's Hassan Murtaza said that it is pity that they could not agree on the name of the caretaker chief minister.
