Defamation Bill becomes law in Punjab
LAHORE (92 News) - The Defamation Bill, which was passed by the Punjab Assembly a couple of days ago, became the law after it was enacted on Monday.
The government issued the gazette notification in this regard. Under the Defamation Bill, a compensation of up to Rs three million will be sent to the person levelling the allegations before the trial. After the gazette notification, the Defamation Law has been enforced across the country.
Meanwhile, the opposition and journalist bodies have announced to continue struggle against the law.
On the other hand, the Lahore High Court has declared the application against the Defamation Law as admissible.
