Defence Day, Kashmir Solidarity Day to be observed today

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Pakistan will observe 6 September as “Defence Day” and “Kashmir Solidarity Day” on Friday (today). The federal government has decided to observe Friday as “Defence Day” as well as “Kashmir Solidarity Day”. It is noteworthy that that Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa will meet the families of martyrs and ghazis. All offices throughout the country will be closed at 1500 hours to commemorate the “Defence Day of Pakistan”. The purpose of closure of the offices is to show solidarity with the people of Kashmir and to visit the families of Martyrs and monuments.
Full dress rehearsal for Defence Day
A full dress rehearsal for tomorrow was held at Peshawar’s Karnal Sher Khan Stadium amid tight security. Tent pegging and horseback riding skills were demonstrated amidst the presence of defence equipment. An illustration of operation against terrorists was also performed. Furthermore, stalls of Pakistan Army, Pakistan Air Force (PAF), Pakistan Navy and Rescue 1122 were established in the stadium. Earlier, Inter-Service Public Relation (ISPR) Director general Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor shared promo paying tribute to martyrs. “Defence and Martyrs Day 6 Sep 2019. Like last year, let’s reach out to families of our shaheeds. Every shaheed be remembered,” the ISPR DG tweeted. Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor tweeted with the short video contained pictures of prominent civilians like former prime minister Benazir Bhutoo and senior politician from Khyber Paktunkhwa Bashir Bilour along with military men who lost their lives in their struggle for peaceful and prosperous Pakistan. ISPR DG urged the nation to reach out to the families of martyrs on September when the nation marks “Defence and Martyrs Day”. He concluded his tweet with hashtag #KashmirBaneGaPakistan (Kashmir Will Pakistan).
