Delay in Saulat Mirza's hanging to expire today; New death warrants expected
April 30, 2015
KARACHI/MACH (92 News) – The extension in Saulat Mirza’s execution will be expiring today (Thursday) and a new death warrant is expected to be issued. As per reports, Machh Jail authorities said that a letter had been written to the anti-terrorism-court in Karachi for a new death warrant. A new execution date for Mirza will be set after the death warrant is received. Earlier on Wednesday,  Saulat Mirza filed a constitutional petition in the Sindh High Court (SHC) claiming that his family has been receiving death threats. Mirza, who is presently languishing in Balochistan's Machh jail, petitioned through his counsel, saying that his family has been receiving death threats in phone calls from South Africa. Saulat Mirza was scheduled to be executed on 19 March but the death row inmate in a video made startling revelations regarding the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and appealed for a delay in his execution. He received a stay in his execution for 72 hours by the president which was later extended till April 30.
