Deputy speaker has no authority to summon session in presence of speaker: Ch Pervaiz Elahi

LAHORE (92 News) - Punjab Assembly Speaker Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi has said that the deputy speaker has no authority to summon a session in the presence of the speaker.

Talking to the media on Wednesday, he said that the Punjab governor had violated the sanctity of the House in Punjab. "The illegal work has been ended and no will dare it in future. The assembly session had been summoned and the ordinances were issued later," he maintained.

He said that an attempt has been made to weaken the institution of the assembly.

Chaudhary Pervaiz Elahi said that how the governor can summon the session. "The government would have held the session in the Assembly had they required members," he added.

PTI leader Mian Mahmoodur Rasheed announced to move court for the disqualification of the deputy speaker.
