Our desire for peace shouldn't be interpreted our weakness: PM Nawaz

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif while condemning the unprovoked firing of the Indian forces across the Line of Control (LoC) said that "our desire for peace should not be interpreted as our weakness". In a statement, the prime minister said "we are ready for safety, defense of our country. Pakistan can thwart any evil design made to undermine the sovereignty of the country." Nawaz Sharif also paid rich tribute to the soldiers martyred in unprovoked firing of the Indian forces across the Line of Control (LoC). “Pakistan's valiant armed forces are fully capable of defending the territorial integrity of the country.” On the other hand, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said that Pakistan gave a befitting response to Indian aggression, adding that the armed forces are fully prepared to do so in case of any violation of ceasefire on the Line of Control. He said that India's firing on the Line of Control was part of a plan to satisfy Indian public opinion and its media. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif summoned a meeting of the Federal Cabinet on Friday. Tension between the nuclear arch rivals has been high since an Indian crackdown on innocent Kashmiris following the killing by security forces of Burhan Wani, in July. The incident comes a day after Pakistan said India will “disintegrate” when Kashmir gains independence. India is trying to isolate Pakistan diplomatically after a recent militant attack in Indian-controlled Kashmir that killed 18 Indian soldiers. New Delhi blames a Pakistan-based militant group for the attack. Pakistan denies that.
