Devotees throng shrine as Hazrat Madhu Lal Hussain’s Urs begins

LAHORE (92 News) – Thousands of devotees paid homage to the great Punjabi Sufi poet Hazrat Madhu Lal Hussain on the first day of the 431st Urs on Saturday. Punjab Minister for Religious Affairs Saeedul Hassan inaugurated the Urs. The devotees, including women and children, lit the Chiragh (clay lamps). The Urs which also called Mela Chiraghan marks the death anniversary of the Punjabi poet and Sufi saint Shah Hussain (1538-1599) who lived in Lahore. Speaking on the occasion, the minister said that saints give the message of love and sincerity. The devotees said that the teachings of Hazrat Madhu Lal Hussain give the message of spirituality and tolerance. Stringent security arrangements had been made on the occasion. Elaborate arrangements have been made for ‘langar’ (food) for the devotees. Mehfil-e-Samaa, Mehfil-e-Naat and other religious and spiritual sittings will be held during the event.
