DI Khan reports Pakistan’s first polio case of 2025
DI KHAN (92 News) Pakistan’s first polio case of 2025 was reported in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Dera Ismail (DI) Khan district.
The National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) in Islamabad confirmed the first wild poliovirus type 1 (WPV1) case of 2025.
The NEOC emphasised the importance of vaccinating all children under the age of five to protect them from the disease.
Pakistan’s first nationwide polio vaccination campaign of the year is scheduled for February 3 to 9, 2025.
Moreover, the Expanded Programme on Immunisation provides free vaccines for 12 childhood diseases at health facilities nationwide.
It should be noted here that DI Khan had reported 11 polio cases in 2024.
Last year, a total of 73 polio cases were recorded nationwide, with Balochistan reporting 27 cases, KP and Sindh 22 cases each, and Punjab and Islamabad reporting one case each.
