ISLAMABAD (92 News) – The disbursement of cash assistance to the deserving families or COVID-19 lockdown victims under Ehsaas Emergency Cash program in continued across the country. After the biometric verification, it will be possible to provide Rs12,000 per family to the beneficiaries. 17,000 payment points are set up across the country to receive cash. Earlier in a tweet, Special Assistant on Poverty Alleviation Sania Nishtar said that in the first phase, disbursements are being made to Kafalat beneficiaries. She said special arrangements have been put in place at the disbursement points to avoid the spread of the pandemic. Under Ehsaas Emergency Cash Program, a sum of Rs12000 each will be given to the deserving families facing financial problems due to coronavirus. The government has allocated 144 billion rupees for this purpose. The special assistant said that seventeen thousand payment points are being established across the country with special protective measures to facilitate payment of cash assistance. She said the people can call our toll free number 0800-26477 for any query. It is pertinent to mention here that the centers have been established in different cities of Pakistan while the payments would be received from 8:00am to 6:00pm on daily basis. Admiring financial assistance of the needy people, Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has termed it as ‘great achievement’ of the government for transferring cash among deserving families on a massive scale across the country. The prime minister took his twitter and said that Rs144 billion will be distributed among 12 million deserving families over the next two weeks. He also shared a video and photos of centres facilitating needy people for cash transfers. “Today saw the launch of the biggest cash distribution by any govt in Pak’s history, directly to the most vulnerable & needy citizens in our society,” pM Imran Khan tweeted.
