Dual nationality : SC seeks details of Zulfi Bukhari’s education, eligibility
Earlier, Chief Justice Mian Saqib Nisar, while hearing the dual nationality case at Lahore Registry, has sought the details of education, experience and eligibility of Zulfi Bukhari, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development. The court also ordered to present the file regarding appointment of Zulfi Bukhari. The CJP expressed indignation at Zulfi Bukhari for speaking loudly in courtroom. “This is the Supreme Court. Come here after leaving your anger at home. The prime minister is obedient to law and constitution and cannot make decisions of his choice. Friendship does not work in the national matters and interests,” he remarked. Addressing Zulfi Bukhari, the CJP remarked that you (Zulfi) are a friend of someone else, not Supreme Court. “Go back if you do not want to stay here,” he ordered. The CJP asked him why he is called Zulfi Bukhari when his name is Zufikar Bukhari. “Zulfi Bukhari was a comedian as well,” he said. Zulfi Bukhari claimed that he is among the most 100 influential Muslims in Europe. The CJP remarked that they had given the verdict on the dual nationality and it was national security issue. Later, the court adjourned the hearing until December 5.
