Doctors call for further tightening coronavirus restrictions

KARACHI (92 News) – Doctors have demanded the government further tighten the restrictions to control the spread of coronavirus.
Addressing a joint press conference at Karachi Press Club on Wednesday, Dr Saad Niaz, Dr Abdul Bari, Dr Atif and Dr Qaisar said that mockery of the lockdown is being played. “The government and Ulema expressed irreposnible attitude,” he said.
They questioned whether 20-point SOPs would be implemented. “The coronavirus epidemic would further spread. About 162 doctors and paramedics have contracted coronavirus,” they said.
Dr Abdul Bari said that the situation would improve only after the lockdown. “Cases will start increasing if the lockdown eased. During the last five days, coronavirus patients have increased by 40 percent,” he said, adding that the cases would increase in coming 3-4 weeks.
He said that the people think they would not contract the disease.
