Dollar gains 31 paisa against rupee in interbank trading, closes at Rs279.43

ISLAMABAD (APP) - Pakistani rupee on Tuesday witnessed a 31-paisa devaluation against US dollar in the interbank trading and closed at Rs279.43 against the previous day’s closing of Rs 279.12.

According to the Forex Association of Pakistan (FAP), the buying and selling rates of the dollar in the open market stood at Rs 280.5 and Rs 283.1 respectively. The 100-index of the Pakistan Stock Market witnessed a decrease of 42 points and it was closed at 51,027 points.

The price of the Euro increased by Rs 1.37 paisa to close at Rs 297.43 against the last day’s closing of Rs 296.06, according to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

The Japanese Yen remained unchanged to close at Rs 1.86, whereas an increase of Rs 2.71 was witnessed in the exchange rate of the British pound, which traded at Rs 342.52 as compared to the last closing of Rs 339.81.

The exchange rates of the Emirates dirham and the Saudi riyal increased by 08 paisa each to close at Rs 76.07 and Rs 74.48 respectively.

Meanwhile, the per tola price of 24-karat gold decreased by Rs400 and was sold at Rs209,200 as compared to its sale at Rs209,600 the previous day.

The price of 10 grams of 24 karat gold also decreased by Rs343 to Rs179,355 from Rs179,698 whereas the prices of 10 gram 22 karat gold went down to Rs164,409 from Rs164,723.

The price of per tola and ten gram silver remained constant at Rs2,550 and Rs2,186.21 respectively. The price of gold in the international market decreased by US$6 to US$1,995 from US$2,001.
