Dollar gains 33 paisa against rupee, closes at Rs287.87

ISLAMABAD (APP) - Pakistani rupee on Tuesday witnessed a devaluation of 33-paisa against US dollar in the interbank trading and closed at Rs287.87 against the previous day’s closing at Rs 287.54.

According to the Forex Association of Pakistan (FAP), the buying and selling rates of the dollar in the open market stood at Rs 287.5 and Rs 290 respectively. The price of the Euro increased by 79 paisa to close at Rs 308.20 against the last day’s closing of Rs 307.41.

The Japanese Yen remained unchanged and closed at Rs1.89; whereas an increase of Rs1.95 was witnessed in the exchange rate of the British pound, which traded at Rs353.95 as compared to the last closing of Rs352. The exchange rates of the Emirates dirham and the Saudi riyal increased by 09 paisa each to close at Rs 78.37 and Rs 76.75 respectively.

The 100-index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange witnessed an increase of 142 points and was closed at 56,665 points.

Gold rate up by Rs1,000 to Rs 212,800 per tola

The per tola price of 24-karat gold increased by Rs1,000 and was sold at Rs212,800 compared to its sale at Rs211,800 on last trading day.

The price of 10 grams of 24 karat gold also increased by Rs 858 to Rs182,442 from Rs181,584 whereas the prices of 10 gram 22-karat gold went up to Rs 167,238 from Rs 166,452. However, the price of per tola and 10 gram silver remained stagnant at Rs 2,580 and 2,211.93 respectively.

The price of gold in the international market increased by US$5 to US$1965 from US$1,960.
