Dollar gains 69 paisas against rupee in interbank market, reaches at Rs173.47

KARACHI (92 News) – The dollar price touched a new all-time high of Rs 173.47 in the interbank market after gaining 69 paisas on Wednesday.

Economic experts are of the view that the government will have to take stringent and practical steps for stability in the dollar rate.

They said that importers and other people have expedited purchase in the interbank. "There is a demand of dollar in the interbank market. However, there is no demand of dollar in the open market," the opined.

The experts said that the dollar rate should have been Rs 150-155 due to better foreign reserves. "It seems the rupee is being depreciated like other demands of the International Monetary Fund (IMF)," they added.
