Dollar gains Rs1.71 against rupee in interbank trading, closes at Rs287

ISLAMABAD (APP) - Pakistani rupee on Tuesday witnessed an Rs1.71 depreciation against US dollar in the interbank trading and closed at 287 against the previous day’s closing at Rs 285.28.

According to the Forex Association of Pakistan (FAP), the buying and selling rates of the dollar in the open market stood at Rs 286 and Rs 288.5 respectively.

The price of the Euro decreased by 38 paisa to close at Rs 306.21 against the last day’s closing of Rs 306.59. The Japanese Yen remained unchanged as it closed at Rs 1.90; whereas a decrease of Rs1.11 paisa was witnessed in the exchange rate of the British Pound, which traded at Rs 352.53 as compared to the last closing of Rs 353.64. The exchange rates of the Emirates dirham and the Saudi riyal increased by 30 paisa each to close at Rs 77.97 and Rs 76.34 respectively.

Meanwhile, the 100-index of Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) witnessed a decrease of 124 points , closing at 53,735 points against 53,860 points the previous day.

On the other hand, the per tola price of 24-karat gold decreased by Rs200 and was sold at Rs214,000 as compared to its sale at Rs. 214,200 on the last trading day. The price of 10 grams of 24-karat gold also decreased by Rs172 to Rs183,470 from Rs183,642 whereas the price of 10 grams 22 karat gold went down to Rs168,181 from Rs168,338.

The price of per tola and 10-gram silver remained stagnant at Rs2,580 and 2,211.93 respectively. The price of gold in the international market decreased by $15 to $1,988 from $2,003.
