WASHINGTON (92 News) – Pakistan’s ambassador to the United States Jalil Abbas Jilani has on Tuesday called on US special envoy for Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Olson and handed him evidence of gross human rights violations by the Indian troops in Occupied Kashmir. During the meeting, the Pakistan’s ambassador urged the US to use its influence as a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to stop Indian brutalities against innocent Kashmiris. He also appealed to the international community including the US to take notice of the brutalities being committed by the occupation forces in held Kashmir, adding that the Kashmiris should be given their right to self-determination. He called on the international community to send human rights organizations to the occupied Kashmir. On the other hand, the White House stopped accepting signatures for a petition that sought to designate Pakistan a state sponsor of terrorism, saying it has been archived over fraud as it did not meet the "signature requirements". The announcement by the White House comes days after the petition gained a record half a million signatures, five times the number needed to get a response from the Obama Administration.
