MULTAN (92 News) – Dozens of residential areas were inundated after a dyke broke near DG Khan on Wednesday. A flood warning was issued in Kot Addu, Rajanpur, Jampur, Khanpur, Rojhan, Rahim Yar Khan and Liaquatpur. Khairpur Nathan Shah, a city of 10 million people, faces the flood threat after the breakage of the dyke. The Pakistan Army and Navy carried out a relief operation in the affected areas and shifted thousands of people to safer places. In addition, hundreds of people were provided medical treatment. In Ghotki, 10 more villages were inundated while the road link of 260 villages was disconnected. As a result, hundreds of people were besieged. Meanwhile, Guddu Barrage was in high flood with the inflow of 550,890 cusecs. The administration said that there could be inflow of 700,000 cusecs between August 2 and 3. On the other hand, the flood has caused massive destruction in Chitral. The road links have broken and as a result, affectees are facing difficulties. The Pak Army has so far distributed 59 tons of ration among the flood affectees.
