Dozens held as FIA intensifies crackdown against currency smugglers

LAHORE (92 News) - Dozens of people were arrested in the crackdown against currency smugglers launched by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) across the country.

The accused were involved in the 'havala hundi' business. During the crackdown, local and foreign currency worth millions of rupees was recovered.

The vigorous crackdown has started yielding results and a huge rush of people selling dollars has been witnessed in exchange companies. During the last six days, people have deposited US$60 million in the interbank trading.

As a result, the dollar rate has further decreased by Rs1.09 and is available at Rs298.80.
