Drugs Recovery Case: PIA crew members among 20 arrested

LONDON (92 News) – The British customs officials have on Tuesday allowed the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) to take off after detailed search of the aircraft.

The British customs officials search the PIA flight PK-785 as soon as it landed at the London airport, later declared it clear.

Earlier, on Monday, authorities had seized 20 kilogram of heroin worth millions of dollars in the international market from the Pakistan International Airline (PIA) flight from Islamabad to London (PK785).

As many as 20 people from the crew of the airline’s London-bound plane and ground staff were arrested and an investigation into the case is underway.

Adviser to the Prime Minister on Aviation Mehtab Abbasi ordered an urgent probe into the recovery of drugs by appointing Additional Inspector General of the Punjab police Hussain Asghar as its chief.

The PIA came under criticism at home last week when United Kingdom’s National Crime Agency (NCA) hauled a substantial quantity of heroin that was allegedly hidden in the PIA flight PK-785.
