Dubai will provide details of properties with Pakistani owners: Shabbar

ISLAMABAD (92 News) – Noose tightened around the big fish of money launderer as Dubai Land Department will instantly provide details of properties with Pakistani owners. Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Chairman Syed Shabbar Zaidi said whike sharing the detailed of meetings with Dubai land department in the past few days on Friday. The FBR chairman took his twitter and said, he met officials of the Dubai land department on October 9 and 10; the meeting was part of the efforts being made to bring clampdown corrupt elements that had transferred ill-gotten money from Pakistan to build, buy and invest in foreign real-estate. Shabbar Zaidi announced that the land officials in Dubai had agreed to relay the required information on a priority basis, as quick as possible. “Iqama’s and their possible misuse were also under consideration by Dubai authorities and would be probed to find any wrongdoings,” the FBR chairman tweeted. Earlier, no tax has been imposed on edible items including flour and pulses, said FBR Chairman Syed Shabbar Zaidi. Speaking at a news conference in the federal capital, he said the basic food items had not been taxed in this budget, strongly rejecting the rumors being spread in the public. Zaidi said their target was to broaden the tax net, however, the bureau would not take any decision that hurts the country’s industry or trade. The chairman regretted that the ratio of those paying sales tax is very low, saying Computerized National Identity Card (CNIC) is required only for the people registered under sales tax, but some elements are misusing this facility to other benefits.
